Election...

Sitting down to my computer. Excited it is election day so I can just not have to listen to the crap that goes on anymore. I'm Canadian. I live in Canada. But I'm also dual citizen. 2 of my children were born in the US. My mother was born in the US. I lived in the US for about 6 years, and visited the US (and my many US relatives) many times a year growing up. So I like to keep up on current events. I keep up with elections. Because honestly, what goes on in the US, let's face it, impacts Canada greatly. That's not the point. My point is, one of my countries is going to hell in a hand basket, and fast. Because no matter who wins this election, it's bad news. Sorry but it is. But that's for another post. 

So I sit down to my computer. Excited to see some of the last bits of the election happen. Because then my friends' posts can all go back to being happier and more civil (people get mean around election, holy cow!). And I see it. A shooting in Azusa, California at a polling station. I'm angry. But by the time I read the article, the situation had resolved. 

A shooting. A SHOOTING! NEAR A POLLING STATION! ARE YOU FREAKIN SERIOUS?!?!

So, you know how we "civilized" countries are sitting here watching what is going on in the middle east, with men killing other people, entire towns even, because they don't agree with what those bad men agree with? And how we think those bad men/countries are horrible for doing said things and allowed said things to happen? And we're feeling all superior over here in our "civilized country" because nothing like that could ever happen in a place like the US/Canada because we are "free people" and are able to have things like elections, and vote, and choose what we can/want to believe in for religion? 

WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS HERE. WE ARE THEM! OUR COUNTRIES ARE TURNING INTO THOSE PLACES WE FEEL SO SUPERIOR TO!!!!!!!

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! THIS IS AN ELECTION! This is NOT the 1800s and we are not having a dual to the death with the slapping cheeks with white gloves, pistols, taking 10 paces, turning around and shooting each other because we disagree!

Remember Germany? We weren't fond of the whole "Hitler" thing in case you've forgotten. Like, we really didn't like him. Why? Because he killed people that didn't agree with him, and killed people for not being the same as him, and having different beliefs, and different ways of life. We REALLY didn't like him much. I mean, I could be wrong, but I thought that was the general consensus! The Tzars of Russia? We weren't fans! 

So for the love of all that is GOOD in this world, get your act together, pull your heads out of your butts (trying REALLY hard not to swear here), and if you can relate to Hitler even the slightest bit (ie.  things like "I think I'll go shoot someone for disagreeing with me" or "I think I'll go shoot someone for having a different vote than I have" or "I hate you simply because you have a different opinion than me, and I'm OBVIOUSLY superior to you because of it" etc), please... go see a councillor, a doctor, a priest, a church leader, your pastor, a cop... someone. Because you NEED help. 

If you are offended by this post, sorry but I'm not sorry. That's just the way it freakin is, so deal with it!
